Meet Josh Gertz
Josh is an Oak Park father with three young children, all future OPRF students. He wants to use his experience in law and employee benefits to ensure taxpayer dollars are used wisely. He knows his three kids will grow fast – and he wants to make sure OPRF High School maintains the highest standards of excellence and safety – so when it’s his kids’ turn to go to high school, they will be challenged at every turn and he and his wife will know that they are doing so in a safe environment.
Josh is a Chicagoland native and public high school graduate. Josh graduated from Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire before receiving his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and his law degree from Depaul University.
Josh and his wife moved to Oak Park to raise their three young children for many of the same reasons all young couples do – and its excellent schools were at the top of that list!
Josh is an experienced employee benefits attorney. With a deep understanding of employee benefits law, he helps clients navigate complex legal issues to ensure compliance and protect their interests. Josh has worked with dozens of school districts and institutions of higher learning throughout the Midwest. Through his efforts, these institutions are able to provide quality care for their employees and abide by state and federal law. Josh has also assisted employers in negotiating collective bargain agreements and responding to grievances. It is with this experience that Josh will work to help control D200’s more than $10 million spent annually on employee benefits.
Outside of work, Josh is a busy husband and father! In the rare moments of free time, he enjoys playing music and experimenting in the kitchen, with a particular passion for cooking alongside his better half.
